Happy Hounds Founder Rianna took a moment to chat with Etain about the brand and their CBD Dog Treats available at the Etain NYC medical cannabis legal dispensary in Midtown Manhattan.
What’s the meaning behind the Happy Hounds brand name?
Happy Hounds is exactly what it sounds like. Our goal is to bring joy to pets and their owners through CBD. You would not believe how many dog and cat moms I speak to that tell me their pets have been prescribed strong pharmaceuticals like Xanax. Most are unaware of Cannabidol’s impact because of the stigma attached and do not consider or think about CBD suitable for their pets. The intention behind the name is overall happiness from physical, mental, and emotional concerns to transport pets and their owners to a place of peace, together.
What made you decide to create Happy Hounds?
Happy Hounds was always an idea in the back of my mind ever since my beautiful Jack Russell, Angel was unexpectedly hit by a car. We were all in shock–especially her. She was put on all types of medications for emotional and physical support, but if there had been a product like Happy Hounds on the market twenty years ago–Angel’s story would have been different. CBD treats the whole pet, not just the symptoms. We want to give our customers a sense of calm and happiness that is both transparent and natural. Pet parents should feel good about the products they are giving their furry family members and we think we’ve nailed it.
Tell us more about the CBD Mobility Treats being sold at Etain.
We are so excited about The Sizzler! Our Mobility treats are not just made with Cannabidol, but serve to help alleviate joint and muscle pain at the source. At Happy Hounds, we believe in treating the whole pet and exceeding the expectations of our customers. Our Mobility Treats are 2.5 MG each, which is great for smaller cats and dogs. With a natural smokey bacon flavor, The Sizzler is Plant-based and packed with Superfoods like Chia Seeds and Tahini. These Superfoods contribute to longevity and movement since they are rich with Omega-3 and 6 fatty acids, lower inflammation, support bone health, and keep your fur baby fuller, longer.
Baked in Brooklyn, our heart-shaped bite's first ingredient is Organic Date Paste to aid in a healthy digestive system. In combination with CBD, which we already know reduces anxiety and inflammation, our Mobility Treats are one of a kind and did we mention they’re delicious!
Since starting the brand, what’s been the biggest lesson you’ve learned as a women-owned business?
One of the biggest lessons I have learned as a woman-owned business is that you have to put yourself in the shoes of your customer. It’s more than empathy, but understanding what customers are going through. People do not just want to be sold–they want to purchase from someone who understands their needs and is providing a product or service that fulfills them.
How do you Take A Moment?
I take a moment by hanging out with friends either by going to a movie or dinner together. I am lucky to have a close group of confidants I can really rely on and they never cease to tell me their opinions on Happy Hounds. A good group of friends is worth their weight in gold.
